Biodynamic Breath and Trauma Release System®

The BioDynamic Breathwork & Trauma Release System® is a body oriented therapeutic approach that uses breath as a main tool with the help of supporting elements such as movement, touch, sound, conscious emotional expression and meditation to support tension release and healing on the somatic level. BBTRS® has at it roots elements of Wilhelm Reich’s body oriented therapeutic approach, Alexander Lowan's Bioenergetic approach combined with the soft and gentle techniques of Peter Levine’s Trauma Healing Modality.

BBTRS heals the body by releasing chronic tension and supporting clients to complete arrested trauma-related Fight/Flight or Dissociated responses. This can bring an increased sense of aliveness and awareness of the body, improving overall health and supporting emotional integration.

 6-Element approach

BBTRS uses a 6-Element approach which creates a flexible and dynamic experience that goes deeper than traditional therapies.

Breath:

BBTRS uses deep connected breathing to charge up the body, activating specific belts of muscular tension and emotional patterns. The sessions are designed in a series to stimulate and rebalance your mind and body from head to toe.

Movement:

BBTRS uses both somatic and creative movement exercises to allow vibration and release held energy in the body’s tissue. This may include fascial opening, core tension release and therapeutic use of dance.
From playful warm-ups, to whole-body shaking, to undulating spinal waves, movement is key to what makes BBTRS truly transformative.

Sound:

Evocative music, vocalization, recordings and live instrumental sounds are supportive tools which we use during a session. Sounds have a remarkable effect on the nervous system. They are used creatively with conscious attention, providing a resource in sessions.

Touch:

BBTRS uses conscious touch at many levels, from the body’s energetic field to contact with core muscles. It’s applied with sensitivity to increase awareness and support energy flow.

Emotion:

During a BBTRS session you are supported to stay present while revisiting deeper feelings and sensations and to return to your own sense of comfort whenever necessary. This balance is key to the BBTRS approach. It supports you to release and integrate trauma, rather than simply relive it and become overwhelmed.

Meditation:

Meditation is used to support resonance in the practitioner and integration for the client. It’s also the resting state the mind and body often return to after BBTRS sessions.
Different approaches are used within BBTRS from active meditations, to sitting silently in some of the earth’s most sacred places.
